UK commuters now take £4,100 of technology to work

T£4,100 deviceshe UK public’s demand for gadgets show no sign of abating after a recent report shows that the ‘typical commuter bag’ now contains as many as six gadgets with their contingent chargers.

According to research from ensure home insurance, people now take £4,100 worth of technology to work every day, a £289 increase compared to two years ago.

The most popular gadget is a Blackberry (46%), closely followed by a laptop (38%), and the iPhone 4/4S (20%). According to the research, commuters now spend an average of five hours and 42 minutes using their iPad or laptop on a daily basis and up to two hours staring at, or using their mobile phones.  

* esure used the independent online research company Fly Research who surveyed 1,002  people across the UK, aged 18 and over, between the 4th and 6th January 2013.  Figure is based on current retail prices of the most common commuter gadgets
